Email Marketing - The Truths without the Hype
We are often bombarded daily with the phrase "the money is in email list marketing" as aspiring marketers. However, none of the experienced marketers are prepared to explain how it works and what we can do to get there (without charging thousands of dollars for coaching or mentoring).
Let me first
explain what "a list" is.
A list contains
only the contact information of your customers. You are wasting money, no
matter if your business is a small eBay shop or a large chain of brick and
mortar shops. It's that simple.
It is simple and
straightforward. If you are able to communicate with people who have purchased
your products (or expressed an interest), you will be able to make more money.
My websites are
built with email marketing in mind. The first priority is to not sell products,
but to capture emails addresses. If I do this correctly, my list will grow over
time, and my income as well.
It works, as I
said, there is no mystery, no complicated.
Let's not forget
the importance of building a list. More than half of my online income is derived
directly from my list.
Okay, now you
understand what a "list" is and what the benefits are. But how do you
begin?
You could offer a
free report (eBook), or a chance to win a prize. It doesn't matter what incentive
you choose, as long as it is relevant and provides value to your customer.
Next, build a
relationship with your customer through regular emails that inform, entertain
and engage.
Email marketing
requires regular communication. Your ultimate goal is to get your subscribers
to open your emails and click your links. This can only be achieved if you send
quality content at least once per week.
Once you have
established trust and built rapport with your customers, you can now move on to
the next step which is product recommendation.
The autoresponder
is the tool that makes it all possible. Before I get started, let me make
it clear: without an autoresponder you can't build or market to your list
effectively. It is an essential piece.
You don't have to
be afraid of autoresponders. Once you get used to it, it will become second
nature.
There are many
autoresponders available on the market. Just Google "autoresponder".
But first, a warning: Your email list is your most valuable asset. Don't let
yourself be tempted by the cheapest option. Do your research and listen to
established marketers you trust.
